Food and Drink
Market Rasen is a beautiful little market town which serves many surrounding villages. It has a wonderful High Street with lots of individual shops, rather than the more common blueprint chain shopfronts that have blighted so many towns.
As a result there are loads of places for walkers to enjoy refreshment before, after or during their walks. Whether you are looking for a well-earned pint with pub food, high tea with freshly baked scones, a nice little restaurant or just a take-away Market Rasen has it all!
The Aston Arms - the hub of the town, Market Rasen’s famous pub dominates the market place and was the subject of Bernie Taupin's "Saturday Night's Alright" which Elton John made a hit. Much quieter these days, the pub serves good quality real ales, wood burning stove and pub-grub type food at very reasonable prices.
The George - just off the high street, down George Street - this pub caters for the livelier end of the market - real ales, log fires in winter and a warm welcome - in the summer, the large, landscaped beer garden in the rear courtyard is a must!
The White Swan - on the high street, along Queen Street, dating back to 1800s and newly refurbished, with rooms (see Staying In Rasen), sports TV and live music every Saturday and a weekday Jam night. Real ales and a warm welcome.
The Advocate Arms – at the heart of the high street, not really a pub, this is a 5 star restaurant with rooms (see Staying In Rasen). Non-residents are very welcome for a drink in the friendly bar or outside terrace area, and to eat in the modern bar or fantastic restaurant.
Tea Rooms, Cafes and Restaurants:
Albion Tea Rooms – a beautifully restored building along the high street, on Queen Street, past The White Swan towards the railway bridge, great food in lovely surroundings.
